Still-Life Drawing and Painting

Still-life is a bridge course where the student learns to apply their experience in drawing for the first time with a full palette. Using under-painting in grisaille, monochrome, and later color, students will be working on prepared supports. Accuracy in depiction of subject matter using life size compositions, proportion and scale. Students are asked to keep a portfolio of sketches, finished work throughout. Advanced students: as the student progresses, the goal is to realize fully complete framed work, suitable for juried exhibition. In-depth study of color and pigment is expected. Students will be asked to keep a complete record of sketches, work in progress and document process. Portfolio review each session.
