Benjamin F. Long
Founder and Teacher
Benjamin F. Long IV, The Headmaster and founder of the League, has lived, studied, and painted for 30 years in Europe. He has exhibited in Florence, London, and Paris, had works in the Royal Academy and Royal Portrait Society, and has created seven major frescoes in Italy. He was the first to put a fresco in the restored Basilica of Montecassino the monastery founded by St. Benedict. He received the First International Leonardo da Vinci Award in Florence, Italy , for his works. He has since painted eleven frescoes in North Carolina alone. Being a Statesville native, he began his studies at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, then continuing on to the Art Student's League in New York City. He finished his studies in the old masters apprenticeship style with Maestro Pietro Annigoni in Florence , Italy. His painting are included in premiere private collections, and many permanent museum collections. He has had many students in his studio; in the United States, France, and Italy , all who have gone on to master their talents, and create well respected careers in their own right.
